Pastor Shields is a published author, life coach, presenter, public speaker, and civil rights advocate.  He volunteers as a community organizer for the NAACP and teaches inmates curriculum in preparation for the General Equivalency Diploma.

One of the greatest moments in his life is when he began his personal walk with Christ.  Pastor Shields thoroughly enjoys introducing others to Jesus by going therefore and making disciples.  He is an under-shepherd with a spiritual conviction, moral aptitude, and a close spiritual walk with the Good Shepherd our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Although he has been in ministry for well over 20 years, he accepted the call to full-time and has been a pastor for 6 years.  The Lord has blessed him to bring many souls into a personal relationship with Jesus.  During his tenure in the Golden Triangle District, the Lord blessed to baptize over 100 souls for the Kingdom.  The church has grown and has enjoyed a substantial increase in tithe.  Under his leadership with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Salem and Lee Memorial have become, in unison, a Christ-centered ministry.

Pastor Shields is the director and speaker for the 501(c)3 organization According to the Word which was designed to evangelize, equip, and empower the people of God with the Word in conjunction with the Great Commission set forth by Jesus Christ.  Committed to the spirit of excellence, the Lord has blessed those churches to become an oasis of hope and spiritual awareness, as well as financial independence.  His ministry is in line with the Great Commission in that he seeks to minister to the total person, through developing multi-cultural ministry impacting the world in which we live with the uncompromising message of Jesus Christ.

OUR CHURCH

Port Gibson, MS is a city rich in heritage and culture.  During America's Civil War, Port Gibson is best remembered as one of General Ulysses S. Grant's first conquests after crossing the Mississippi River during the Vicksburg Campaign of 1863. Landing at nearby Bruinsburg, General Grant's troops marched down the Old Rodney Road, then engaged and repelled Rebel troops near the Shaifer House. During this campaign, Port Gibson escaped the fiery fate of other Mississippi towns. In a famous legend, Grant reportedly stated that the town was "too beautiful to burn." He left Port Gibson mostly unscathed on his northward trek to Vicksburg.

First Seventh-day Adventist Church was strategically placed as an oasis for Claiborne County.  We are continuing to spread the Good News of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ throughout Port Gibson and its surrounding areas.
